I wanted to continue what my father had done for years for his village. So my kids and I started collecting crayons, color pencils and books from schools in the U.S.A. and donated to schools in Naduvalur. Later I started buying sports supplies for the schools. The school children really enjoyed using them and it filled me with joy to see such happy kids. I came to realize that helping the children, and my village was my calling and passion. I needed funds to support my passion so I started making jewelry and gourd art and 100% of the sale proceeds went towards my charity. "Fogbird Designs" was launched, as well as my charity called "NextVision."
NextVision's current funding comes from the sales proceeds of the jewelry and gourd art, but as we continue to grow, we are looking for outside funding in the form of donations.
Ganthimathy played a key role in establishing NextVision Charity in India. She is very closely connected with her native village and her knowledge of the village schools and contacts with a number of the village leaders helped NextVision with its charity work.
Gandhimathy spends her free time planning NextVision's new projects, establishing relationships with local leaders, and managing local funding and accounting.
